Finally I use trigonometry...
I didn't get any FYP work done this week due in part to:
1) work work (2 client jobs),
2) school work (TWC project, AA project and PSMB project),
3) and also in part due to X-men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse.
I did however manage to code a algo for launching multiple projectiles at a target. It's quite simple really. Just get a missile to fly in a straight line to its target, then adjust the vertical movement by adding or subtracting half a sine function operating on the percentage of the horizontal movement completed.
Basically:
missileHeight = missileHeight + regular vertical movement + sine displacement
Check out the real thingy here:
Leonard's Multi-Missiles DemoYou might notice that the flight path of the outer missiles makes a very sharp corner. This is after Carrie pointed that out and I tweaked it by lowering the sine coefficient of the outer 2 paths. Perhaps I need a more rounded curve formula than sine. Any suggestions?
Anyway, I'm officially coding the weapon effects for my company's game engine. Guess that means I'll be using alot of physics and mathematics over the hols. Well, I finally put the stuff I learnt in JC to good use. Did I also mention I programmed an economy in July? That's my econs knowledge put to good use.
Oh yeah, this came in the mail too:
Hi Leonard

Singapore Computer Society I guess I should be emailing Prof. Desai and my Dean to thank them for giving me a good testimonial. Then again maybe they already know I've been shortlisted.

I think everyone must be sick of the Ramly Rap by now so I changed it to some music from Starcraft.
We haven't got much time left and the other courses have sprung alot of last minute projects and assignments on us. So I had a meeting with Muchacha to finalise the modules that we would develop and which ones we would drop from the project (EL can pay for them if they still want them after our FYP is over).
It's time to turn up the heat and GIT PROGRAMMIN!

Here's a breakdown of the remaining modules we need to develop (and the rough estimate of time needed to do them):
Flash based stuff1. Flash AI help - 5 days
2. Flash touch ups - 3 days
3. Flash Multiple additions to class - 3 days
------------
PHP stuff1. Minor Changes - 1 day
2. Email Prompt + Evaluation - 2-4 days
3. Linkage to IBM DB2 - 2 days
4. Bond Calculation - 2-3 days
5. Data dumping to XLS (indv, dept, company) - 3-4 days
-----------
Stuff we dumped1. Attendance Taking system - 2 days
2. Employee Details display - 2-3 days
Everything needs to be done by
November 14th. We deploy the system in EL and then it's time for the final presentation.

About time...

Got this in the mail this morning.
Guess IDA knows someone's Birthday coming so decided to send present.
Damn Van...
Saturday was one of those days you know you should have just stayed in bed and everything would have been fine. The dark clouds could have clued me in but I didn't think much of it. I have these ominous signs just before I meet with an accident, every single time, but do I pay heed? NOOOoooo...

Next time the voice in my head tells me I should stay home in the morning, I'll make it a point to listen.
Anyway, I decided there and then that I would be in a bad mood for the rest of the week, become a recluse and hole myself in the office coding A.I. and my isometric engine. Considering the number of social engagements this week (Sharon's Bdae, Muchacha's Bdae, meeting with Estee Lauder, etc), this is a really bad time for this sorta shit.
I was stewing in my misery till about 4pm when I found a teammate for the
LKY global biz plan competition. I wanted to take part the year before but our company product wasn't so well developed. This year we've got our stuff together and are ready to rock but I need another SMU student to form a team because Tianyang won't be qualified as he'll graduate in December.
Anyway, my teammate is none other than our PR girl, Carrie!
It brightened my day when Carrie agreed to join; especially since Huiwen and I were just discussing the night before:
"Reasons why Carrie is quite the ideal teammate for this competition" 1)
She's in the Bizcom exco - event planning skills gonna come in handy just that this time we got to plan things on a global scale
2)
Presentation Skillz - wonder if those post modern theatre studies will come in handy
3)
She's a potential user herself - well she plays phone and PC games
4) And of course, the
boundless Carrie enthusiasm which is oh-so-important for these boring business plan competitions!
As Huiwen puts it: "She always very enthu about things"Of course, there's always the US$20,000 prize to serves as a backup motivation as well. (I need that for repairs). Heh. :-P
I've got a good feeling about this. Hopefully it's a sign we'll win. :-P
